The Versilia Seaside
Particularly in spring and autumn, when the beaches are not crowded, Versilia combines the serenity of a seaside vacation with ease of access to the cities of art and smaller towns. During the "season", between July and September, the bathing establishments really come to life and the crowds are only a small part of the vitality and amusement on offer where no one is ever heard complaining that there are too many people!
The bathing establishments with their beaches of fine clean sand, traditional changing cabins, beach umbrellas and deckchairs are, for many Tuscans, the epitome of their childhood holidays.
Even in the evening, after dinner, people gravitate towards the beach, on the seaside promenades, with some bars and discotheques opening directly onto the sand.
This year four municipalities of Versilia, notably Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Camaiore and Pietrasanta, hold the blue flag to a certification of a series of requirements concerning water quality, quality of the coast, emergency measures and services, and environmental awareness.
